Popular Bingo Nicknames – Part 2

Here is part 2 of the most popular bingo nicknames:

6 – Half a Dozen
7 – Lucky for Some – The number seven is considered to be a lucky number for some people, especially in particular cultures.
8 – Garden Gate
9 – Doctors Orders – In the Second World War a laxative pill was distributed to soldiers and was called Number 9.
10 – Gordon’s Den – The person currently living at Number 10 Downing Street is used for the number ten.
11 – Legs Eleven -The nickname is a reference to the shape of the number eleven resembling a set of legs.  It is usual practice in bingo that the players will wolf whistle in response.
12 – One Dozen – The nickname refers to the number of units within a dozen – twelve. 
13 – A Baker’s Dozen – The nickname refers to there being thirteen units within a baker’s dozen.
16 – Sweet Sixteen, Never Been Kissed 
21 – Key of the Door
22 – Two Little Ducks
23 – The Lord is My Shepherd – These are the first words of Psalm 23 within the Old Testament.
24 – Knock at the Door
26 – Two and Six, half a crown – This refers to the pre-decimalised currency within the UK.
27 – Duck and a Crutch – Again the name refers to the number two looking like a duck and the number seven resembling a crutch.
28 – Two and Eight, in a state – This name is used because it rhymes with “state”.
30 – Burlington Bertie – This nickname refers to song played in music halls of the same name.  The song was composed in 1900.
