Online Gambling Regulation

February 28, 2010

Online gambling regulation covers the online casino and online sports betting industry. Online casinos first appeared in the mid 1990s, with InterCasino reputedly the first company. Online casinos offer players an array of well-known games, such as poker, baccarat, blackjack and slots, in innovative virtual surroundings.

Regulation of the online casino and betting industry addresses the issues of the virtual nature of the games. This virtual nature raises the problems of the remoteness of players from one another – games can be played across countries and time zones – and the ease and speed with which new casino operators can enter the market. The fact that games can be played 24/7 and across time zones can easily be seen to exacerbate compulsive gambling. The high stakes that can often be played for also mean that less than reputable operators have a great enticement to enter the market.

Online casinos are often keen to stress that they are in some ways self-regulating. The most typical example of this is their acquisition of third-party operating software, such as random number generating software, to ensure fair and unpredictable results.

In the UK, online casinos are licensed and regulated on a national basis. A number of companies can be headquartered in places such as Gibraltar or Antigua and Barbuda. In the latter, Internet gambling licences are relatively easy to obtain. One recent example of an unresolved area of regulation is mobile phone gambling, which can be difficult to monitor.

Beginner Tips for Playing Blackjack Online

December 31, 2009

Perhaps online blackjack isn’t your first choice for a casino game or maybe you are completely new to casinos and are looking to see what game suits you best. If so, here are some simple rules for you to follow. Basically the aim of the game is to keep turning cards until the points add to 21. Going over 21 is a bust and you lose.

The value of each card equals how many points, with a face card worth 10 points and the ace being either high (11) or low (1).

To begin, you are dealt two cards and the perfect score would be for their value to total 21, but if you are not the luckiest person on the planet, then a few tips may help you out.

If your first two cards are 9 or lower, you should ‘hit’ (ask the dealer to turn you another card).

If the first two cards equal 10 or 11, you should ‘double down’ (double the bet).

If the cards total between 12 and 16, depending on the dealer’s exposed card (one card will be shown, the other will be turned over and hidden from the players) you play as follows. If the dealer’s ‘upcard’ is 6 or lower, you should ‘stand’. If it is 7 or higher, then ‘hit’.

Do the opposite if your cards total 18, ‘stand’ if the dealers ‘upcard’ is 7 or higher and ‘hit’ if it is 6 or lower.

Always stand if your cards total 19 or over, as the risk of ’busting’ is too high.

It all takes practice, so make most of the online casinos free play games, learn, without it costing a penny, but most of all, enjoy yourself, after all it is only a game.

Online gaming for all

December 17, 2009

The number of online gambling sites seems to be increasing by the day. Where once you had to join a club and wear appropriate dress to take your place at the roulette or blackjack tables; now you need only a computer with Internet access to indulge your passion.

Sites such as Spin Palace and Jackpot City vie with the more familiar Littlewoods and Ladbrokes online casinos for customers. This could create good offers for the potential gambler as they want each others’ custom.

All of them have a pleasant starting interface with full instructions on how to get started and full customer support on hand at all times should problems be encountered.

Along with the Blackjack and Roulette tables, which require software to be downloaded, there are hundreds of games of chance and moderate skill available that can be accessed immediately.

All you need to do is open an account and make a deposit to get started, which takes just a few minutes. Security is a priority and customers need have no concern about their details being misused. In fact, it’s probably safer gambling online with all the measures in place than walking out of a real casino late at night with your winnings in your wallet.

As well as traditional casino games such as blackjack and roulette, there are also online slots in various guises. With these, you can play for as little as one penny on the five-reel slot games. Ladbrokes casino offers a wide range of fun and potentially profitable online slots, such as the popular Tomb Raider and Mermaid Millions.

The Basics of Starting Your Own Online Casino

October 30, 2009

An online casino business is lucrative. Apart from being the fastest growing form of Internet business, it also generates billions of dollars in revenue. If you want to venture into this money-making arena, the first thing you have to do is invest. Big business means big money. If you want to earn, you have to play it big. Once you have the cash, you can proceed in studying the basics of setting up an online casino.

First, you have to ensure that you are operating in a country that allows gambling. Check with your local authorities if you can operate an online casino. Know the fees to pay, the legalities, and all the regulations necessary if you don’t want to end up getting sued or behind bars.

Next is to ensure that you have the proper gaming and software license. A gaming license is given by the government, while the software license comes from an Internet Gambling Software Provider that allows you to use their gambling software. Some providers also offer servers, but it is advisable that you, as the licensee, should operate and own the server.

In order for your online casino to profit, you need to attract gamblers. In order to get these clients, you have to spend money on advertising and you also have to come up with a good marketing plan. Taking part in an affiliate program is one marketing strategy. Other ways to market your business is through search engine optimisation, banner and pay per click ads, promotion via email and newsletter, and offline marketing. You can also seek the assistance of a marketing firm.

In addition, you also need a payment processor to take care of credit cards, the right games, such as Online Poker or Blackjack, to attract your customers, and, most of all, a 24/7 customer service crew. So go get that domain name and start gambling!

Keeping It Real: The William Hill Live Online Casino

October 02, 2009

Fact: culturally speaking, online casinos are different from land-based casinos. Online casinos can be played anytime or anywhere inside your house as long as the Internet bug doesn’t bite. The only thing you’ll hear and see are those sounds and lights coming from your computer. Excitement becomes subjective, so they say. Or maybe it only needs a little push from an online casino source that can bring it to you, live and raw.

The William Hill online casino is a venue for online gamblers who want to experience live casino action. A gambler who prefers virtual interaction may register at William Hill and make a deposit. Afterwards, the gambler is given the option to choose from three games and these are baccarat, roulette and blackjack. A choice of game limits and dealers are then presented and the gambler must choose the one preferred. Once a decision has been made, the chosen game will be uploaded and the gambler should then see and hear the dealer. Similar to a land-based casino, a gambler is only given limited time to make a bet, which can be done by selecting an amount and clicking directly on the table, or by pressing the confirm button before the timer stops. If the player sits at a table without making a bet and exceeds the time limit, the game will end.

William Hill online casino also offers live chat. A chat box at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen is available for a gambler to chat with a dealer. The option to chat with other gamblers is also available. A message box will then pop to display all messages made.

Jackpot City Features Free Blackjack Tournaments

September 29, 2009

Most online gamblers seek nothing but thrills induced by competition. This fast-paced and fun way of gambling has allowed online casinos to set up tournaments. In the Jackpot City online casino, tournaments are held for those who enjoy the adrenaline-pumping ride that competition brings. The multiplayer blackjack tournament is one of those that Jackpot City has in store for its members and the best part about it is that it comes for free.

The first step is for the online gambler to download the free casino software. After the initial login, the gambler should then proceed to the Tournaments section and open the Blackjack folder. Two types of tournaments are available: the Scheduled and the Sit ‘n’ Go.

Scheduled Blackjack tournaments have a specific start and end time. The number of players who can join depends on the tournament requirements. If the minimum number of players is not reached, the tournament will be cancelled. As for Sit ‘n’ Go, only a limited number of players are allowed to play within a set time frame. Once the required number has entered the tournament, the game will start. Joining scheduled Blackjack and Sit ‘n’ Go is only allowed if the status says “open” or that players are required, respectively.

Once the gambler enters a desired tournament, a pop-up notification message will appear a minute before the start of the game. At the beginning of the game, a gambler will be given a certain amount of tournament credits, similar to that of the other players. These credits have no cash-out or monetary value. They simply serve as counters for the tournament. In the event of a tie, the starting player with more tournament credits will get the higher ranking. If two players have the same number of credits at the start of the tournament, the player next to the starting player will get the higher ranking.

No entry fee is needed for these blackjack tournaments.

A Slice of Blackjack

September 06, 2009

Blackjack, also known as Twenty-One, is a game that dates back to the 17th Century. It is said to have developed in France, with vingt-et-un (21) as its name, and was later on brought to the U.S. where it received its present day name of Blackjack.

The objective of blackjack is to get the highest hand without going over twenty-one. It may seem easy, but winning takes skill and chance. Blackjack has been played for years and has become part of the online casino arsenal.

Online casinos that provide the game of blackjack use the best online gaming software for playing various blackjack games and variants, such as European Blackjack, Multi-hand Blackjack, Multi-player Blackjack, Vegas Downtown Blackjack, Atlantic City Blackjack, Vegas Strip Blackjack, Spanish Blackjack, Bonus Blackjack, and more.

Before playing Blackjack online, a player must first understand the value of cards and the basic rules of Blackjack that are applied in land-based casinos. The player can then proceed in trading money for chips and placing bets on the table. Two cards are distributed to each player. The goal is to defeat the dealer by obtaining cards with a sum greater than that of the dealer’s cards. If the dealer’s sum is greater than the player’s, the player’s sum should not exceed twenty-one.

Playing online Blackjack is advantageous for a gambler. The comfort of one’s home and the absence of opponent intimidation can provide a positive impact on one’s game. Online Blackjack can also be played as long as the player wants. You can slow down the pace and you have the option to play for real money or fun chips.

All about online blackjack

June 26, 2009

Known for its stimulating fun and sophistication, blackjack is one of the most famous casino games enjoyed by many people across the globe. Through the excellent capabilities of the Internet, players can now experience playing blackjack online through 3D-refined arenas along with a fabulously receptive gameplay.

The game simply requires a player to top the dealer’s hand through a combo, which forms a value totalling 21 (or as close to it as possible) while avoiding exceeding it. The dealer will give out two cards, and the player has the privilege to stand or hit another card. Naturally, a blackjack contains a 10-value card and an ace, which renders the player unbeatable. However, a blackjack can be neutralised by another blackjack, which will then result in the bet being voided.

Blackjack card counting is considered as the arch-rival of casinos, allowing gaming masters to bag millions from the most popular casinos in the world.

In fact, anyone may use card counting in the game, to check if they have the upper hand on top of the house. There are also numerous free tactics for online blackjack, spread throughout the Internet. Additionally, casual counting may be used to review the cards that are being drawn, as well as to set mashing bets consistent with the emerging cards and their patterns.

As the game allows the players to examine the cards that are being drawn, it is very possible to win big in blackjack.
